The European Union has launched the second satellite for its Galileo navigation system, which is designed to rival the American GPS.
The 500 kilogram satellite was fired into space aboard a Russian made Soyuz rocket from Kazakhstan early on Sunday. It will test technologies to be used in the much delayed Galileo system, including an atomic clock, which the EU claims will be the most accurate in space.
