In general, Czechs tend to be satisfied with their working conditions (80 percent). On the other hand, Czechs are surprisingly pessimistic.
About one-third of them are afraid of the loss of job within six months, while the EU average is 25.2 percent, Vermeylen said. Czechs are also more sceptical than the rest of Europe when it comes to their salaries. One-third of Czechs consider them consistent with their effort, while the EU average is 47 percent. The agency pointed to the general European trend of constant increase in the intensity of work. In 1990, almost 40 percent Europeans said they never had to work under pressure and fast, but the figure plummeted to the mere 20 percent by 2005. Seventy percent of Czechs complain about the significant working stress, which was the third place behind Finns (73.6 percent) and Swedes (71.7 percent).
