Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe says he is open to negotiations to end the country's political crisis, but only if he is accepted as the country's ruler.
Mugabe said in Harare that opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai and the Movement for Democratic Change had to give up their claims to power and recognise his victory in last week's presidential run-off. He made the comments upon returning from an African Union summit in Egypt. There, African leaders passed a resolution for Zimbabwe to form a national unity government.
