Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has urged Georgia to sign a legally binding document guaranteeing that it would not use force in Georgian breakaway regions.
This comes after clashes between Georgian soldiers and separatists killed at least two people in South Ossetia. Moscow's demand comes as separatists announced the mobilisation of reservists to counter a potential Georgian threat. Georgia's Abkhazia and South Ossetia regions broke away from central rule during wars against Tbilisi during the 1990s.
