The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has deplored what it calls the "deliberate misuse" of its emblem by Colombian forces during the liberation of Ingrid Betancourt and other hostages from Marxist FARC rebels last month.

Colombia's Uribe says wants to repeat 2006 election ... July 2 had even begun. The Geneva-based humanitarian agency has sought clarifications from Colombian authorities. Last month, Colombian President Alvaro Uribe acknowledged that an army officer had used the emblem in the operation and said he had apologised to the ICRC.
