Georgia condemns Russian actions ... Russia, which has had peacekeepers in South Ossetia, responded by sending in amoured convoys. There are also reports that Russian fighter jets have been bombarding targets in other parts of Georgia. Georgian officials have said that the port city of Poti has been completely destroyed and that three military bases have also been targeted. A senior military officer in Tbilisi has announced that Georgia will withdraw its 2,000-strong contingent from Iraq within the next few days.
