Eight people have been killed and several others injured after a car packed with explosives blew up near a police station in northern Algeria.
Algerian state radio reported that an officer opened fire on the vehicle as it was approaching the police station in Zemmouri, causing the explosives detonate. It was not immediately clear who was behind the attack.
